The First Arizona Banjo Band

The banjo is primarily a rhythm instrument. It plays "happy music." It is somewhat difficult to play a sad song on a banjo.

The banjos in the First Arizona Banjo Band are four-string banjos, the old style "jazz" banjos so popular in the 1920's and 1930's. So the music reflects that style of song - happy, upbeat, full of rhythm and distinctive sound, and easy to sing along with.
